PRELIMINARIES WORK
Topographical survey involved the survey of details of the land, position and shape of natural and artificial features on the earth. A land proposed for development where the boundary is to be identified and demarcated. Contour and level of the land will be surveyed. This topographical plan is used in the design and planning
purposes.
Underground utility mapping is a process of identifying the position and labeling public utility mains which are located underground. These mains may include lines for telecommunication, electricity distribution, natural gas, water mains and wastewater pipes. In some location, major oil and pipe lines, national defense communication lines, mass transit, rail and road tunnels also compete for space underground.
Land surveying is the technique, profession, and science of accurately determining the terrestrial or three-dimensional position of points and the distances and angles between them, commonly practiced by licensed surveyors, and members of various building professions. These points are usually on the surface of the Earth, and they are often used to establish land maps and boundaries for ownership, locations (building corners, surface location of subsurface features) or other governmentally required or civil law purposes (property sales).
Those engineering tasks that provide geospatial information and services to commanders and staffs across the range of military operations. These tasks include terrain analyses, terrain visualization, digitized terrain products, nonstandard map products, and baseline survey data. See also geospatial information and services.
Laser scanning is a well-known procedure to accurately measure and collect data about objects, surfaces, buildings and environments. Experts use laser scanners to execute this procedure and develop 3D maps and models that assist in the construction industry.
Hydrographic Survey is the science of measurement and description of features which affect maritime navigation, marine construction, dredging, offshore oil exploration/offshore oil drilling and related activities. It can also be used to locate and identify pipelines/cables which are located in rivers, lakes, streams etc.
